Activity Forums VEGAS Pro No Extensions

After having a freeze-up in Vegas 12 Pro while attempting multicam editing using Excalibur, I now find that in both the Edit and the Tools drop down menus if I check for Extensions I get a grayed out menu stating No Extensions. I can clearly see a number of tabs with various VASST extensions, so I know that there are extensions loaded. I uninstalled Excalibur and Timeline Tools (which seem to conflict with each other, by the way) and rebooted a number of times, but to no avail. I even restored my PC to a few days ago when Vegas showed all of the installed extensions, but nothing seems to work. What can I do to get Vegas to show the extensions in the correct places? If I remove Vegas 12 and reinstall, will I lose all of my 3rd party extensions, VSTs, and special tweaks that I performed in Preferences (the hidden ones that were noted here and on the Sony Creative Software Forum, which preferences I don’t even remember I changed or even how to access them now)? Please advise on the best form of action, and thanks in advance.

Check the below directories to see if some of the extensions did not get removed as expected. I did an image because you cannot paste backslashes in the text on this forum. For the user directory you will not have “mbarton” so go into your user folder instead.

Thanks for your advice, Mark. Curiously, looking at my current folders and Acronis images over the past several weeks, I do not nor ever had the “Applications Extensions” folder FOR ALL USERS. I do see everything in the “Applications Extensions” Folder for CURRENT USER (me). Just for the heck of it, I copied the “Applications Extensions” with all of the DLLs to the folder tree you noted FOR ALL USERS and rebooted, but nothing has changed so I deleted this particular folder FOR ALL USERS. As I said, it never was there to begin with and until this morning I could access all of the extensions via the two drop down menus from the top of the screen. Curiously, and as I also stated, the VASST extension tabs for these respective extensions are still working, as are the extensions. However, the other day I DID notice that if I saved my screen view and later reopened SVP 12 Pro, not all of the 10 VASST extensions plus a few other 3rd party extensions that I had loaded were in the tabbed area (and I put out an inquiry about this on the Sony Creative Software Forum); they WERE accessible from the two aforementioned drop downs (currently unavailable) and I could dock them into this tabbed area and work with them at the time, but reopening SVP 12 Pro later showed that some of them again were missing from the tabbed area–WEIRD. So, any ideas on how to proceed at this point in time?

I had problems with the Vegasaur extension not always showing up in the extension menu, but my VASST ones did. You can try assigning a toolbar icon to the extension and see if you can access it that way. Options menu and select Customize Toolbar. In my case the extensions were logged up by Sony Vegas, they just did not always display in the menu, might be a timing thing. In my case I decided that I was not ready for Vegasaur and uninstalled the trail and everything was working again. I suspect the actual problem was with a combination of the other extensions I had, so I don’t want to imply there is a problem with Vegasaur, in fact their support was very responsive in helping me.

In consultation with Edward Troxel, everything now is appearing again. I still have issues with Excalibur 6 that I am working with him on now. Thanks for keeping on top of it!

Anything useful you can share about the resolution of getting the extensions to display? Was it a corrupt file, permissions, etc. It might help others that search for this same problem.

    Glad you got it working!

I uninstalled Excalibur and Timeline Tools with Revouninstall (complete and full uninstall option). I reinstalled Excalibur, and everything reappeared. I then reinstalled Timeline Tools, and all still is well.

LOTS OF THANKS for that tip!! Works perfectly, saves me lots of restart(-trials) and re-installs and now even saves me the time of going thru the VIEWS tree. Some options just never come to your mind unless you get a kick!
