No Dolby 2 Channel sound in Vegas 6 + DVD Platinum ??

OK. So ur sure Jedi that i can make dolby 2 channel right. Beacuse i wud be buying the package for just that and tommorow if it doesnt work it would be a waste. Those cranks at sony sent me an official email saying that dolby 2.0 is just not possible at all even in the production suite version. Only 5.1 is possible is what they say. But sometimes they are numbskulls who themselves are reading something from the site and telling us. So if uve actually done this and used it and been there before then ill confidently buy.

With the full version of Vegas+DVD, AC3 can be rendered as stereo or 5.1. Now, Vegas will NOT mux it with MPEG2 but it WILL render a stereo AC3 file. I’m still not exactly sure what you’re trying to accomplish but a stereo AC3 file can definitely be rendered.

nothing much actually. I just want to make dvds which bear actual dolby 2 channel. If i understood right what your saying is that i wont be able to get an MPEG2 (which is considered an intermediate file format) with dolby digital. But your confirming that i will be able to create an actual playable dvd with dolby 2.0 on it. Also can i have one chapter alone in dolby 5.1 and the others in dolby 2.0 etc. Is it fully flexible ?

Here’s the general recommend method of creating a DVD:

1) Edit footage as needed
2) Render VIDEO to MPEG2 in Vegas (the full version gives you full control over the MPEG2 settings – use one of the DVD Architect presets and the MPEG2 file will NOT contain any audio.)
3) Render AUDIO to AC3 (the full version of Vegas+DVD gives that ability)
4) Give DVD Architect BOTH of those files to work with. (If named properly, the association will be automatic)

I guess I’m not understanding where the confusion is coming in. I’ve answered multiple times that the full version of Vegas+DVD will render AC3 audio in both stereo and 5.1 modes. You might want to take a look at Vol 4 #1 of my newsletters (link below my name) for more details on creating a DVD using AC3 audio.

From your latest questions, it seemed like you were wanting to have AC3 audio and MPEG2 video in the SAME file – Vegas doesn’t do that. But Vegas DOES let you create two files from which a DVD is made. However, you can’t use the “Movie Studio” versions for this task – you need the full version.
