I have a bunch of tapes that I need to log and capture, but I have no device control. In the log and capture window I am able to view the time code of the tape and also view and capture video from the deck. However, I have to use the local deck controls. This makes it not possible to log clips and then batch capture them. I am only able to capture using the dreaded “capture now” method. Any ideas?

I am using a Panasonic DVCPro deck. I haven’t had problems with this before. All FCP settings are correct for device control. (I’ve double and tripple checked) – If anyone has an idea, I’d love to hear it. thanks!

Flip the switch on your deck from local to remote.

Is there a menu setting to change remote control from firewire to RS-422 (or other remote language)?

Check the deck’s manual, if you have access to it. Otherwise, go through the menu items until you find something promising like “control”, or “remote”, or something to do with communication.
