December 14, 2010 at 5:37 pmEven though this thread is a bit old, I would also like to express my disappointment that this feature was removed from the drivers. We have a Decklink SP card and I recently did a massive set of upgrades, including Snow Leopard and Final Cut Studio 3, and after installing the latest drivers from Blackmagic Design for the Decklink cards (7.9.3) I find out that I no longer have an extended desktop, which is a feature that was being used daily at our station.
An optional install would make things a lot easier for those of us who aren’t using Color and would very much like the extended desktop.
Thanks,

November 21, 2011 at 5:59 pmHi everyone,
This is a question I asked in 2009, I receive my answer from BMD in 2009
and was resolved at with the answer I received. I’m not sure how to remove myself
from any future responses regarding this thread (only this thread), but rest-assured I do not need or
expect and further response on this issue.Thank you so much for your concern and diligence.
Best Regards, Dane

November 21, 2011 at 9:45 pmHi
As this answer was relevant in 2009 when the HD Extreme 3D card did not exist, the older drivers that work for extended desktop with the current products of 2009, will not work with newer products that require updated drivers.
Currently extended desktop is possible with Decklink HD Extreme 3D on Mac OSX systems only, with the latest drivers.

January 18, 2012 at 10:00 amHi chaps,
Will the Decklink HD Extreme work with windows 7 ? I’ve moved mine from my old XP machine in to my brand new V7 and the original installer disk doesn’t have a driver for Windows 7.
Thanks

January 29, 2012 at 11:08 amI’m really disappointed in this as I see it being very short sided given the advent of things like Skype. I am a Broadcaster and need a way to get PC video in and out of Skype for video interviews.. I can get the video in with the Decklink but nothing out and if I had the desktop video feature in your previous versions I could use this without a problem. Please let me know what it would take to get this feature again as I and other Broadcasters could use this ASAP..
Thank you

October 29, 2012 at 3:54 pmNot to pile on but the loss of the extended desktop feature on the older cards is disappointing for us as well. We are a large broadcast facility and our third monitors were on the house router so other people could share web pages and simple pics without having to open them in Adobe.
Updating from the Decklink HD to the HD Extreme 3D model makes little sense for us as we would not use any of the advanced features.Love BMD in general though. Great job with the new camera!

May 4, 2016 at 10:10 pmI am also disappointed that desktop video has been removed. Compatibility with the Color app is no longer a real concern. The App and FCP studio 3.0 are at end of life.
I -think- Aja still supports this important feature on their excellent Kona card series, and is all else fails, a Matrox or Aja scan converter will do a great job doing what Black Magic does not (or will not) do.
I must rethink my choices of vendors in the future.
