  No Blank DVD/Cd image

  When I insert a blank DVD or Cd into my G4 or G5 the name the “blank disk” window does not come. The “UnTitles: disk on the desktop also does not come up, I can tho hit the burn button on iDVD or iPhoto and the blank disk strts to burn and ejects, and plays properly. Any ideas?
  I’ve done the verify and repair perms in Disk Utility. and rebooted.
  The only thing I can think of is that apple sent down a software update that did not agree with either the G4 or g5.
