I want to animate a type effect in Motion and then export to AVID. But I only need the letters and not the background in AVID. In other words:
the letters should lay over the video. I tried different things without success. What should I do?
    Thanks!

That’s called an Alpha Channel. Export using Lossless+Alpha

In other words: I just wanna add an alpha channel so that AVID can read it….searched for it, couldn’t find it….

I’m on motion 1 and the last hours i tried again everything. For ex: I put the background color (in property setting) on 0 %. I found the export setting lossless movie + tried exporting alpha and/or color and alpha.
In motion I get the checkerboardbackground (which means transparancy I guess)….but all I see in AVID is a background and the text doesn’t lie over the AVID-background. I’m desperate. It shouldn’s be so difficult to export ONLY text, in my opinion. But where’s the secret button?????

That’s funny…I’m so lonesome I reply to myself the whole time…there’s no motionboard I guess…
Anyway, I found out how it works….so no need to reply anymore (probably needless to say….)

    Hi

Try changing the codec settings to animation millions plus. The plus will be your alpha.
I’m not sure how avid will cope with this codec and the alpha!

    Hope this helps.

    grafx that flow!
