No Background in Model
Hi
I am rendering a model of a bridge part of which has a mesh surface which you can see through (with an alpha channel. The model when rendered will be photomontaged within Photoshop. Perhaps its simple but I cant find it, but can ye render the model so that it has no colour in the background…? So just a transparent background PSD file that ye can stick an image behind in PS and that would appear behind the mesh..? Sorry if i am not explaining myself correctly… Its 2am here…!

No. The RGB buffer will always have a background color, but since you get an Alpha channel, I don’t see a problem. It’s as simple as selecting the Alpha, making the background layer a floating layer and applying the selection as a mask. The only thing to take care of is to use straight Alpha. Photoshop does not handle premultiplied Alpha correctly.
