No audio with intensity pro
Hi,
I just put in a intensity pro card into a 2.66 intel mac. I can capture video fine from HDMI output from a Sony HVR-M25U vcr, but there’s no audio going into 6.0 FCP system. Audio plays fine thru external speakers from vcr. I have the preferences set to intensity for both input & output. With Firewire the audio is fine. I know it’s a click away.
Also, do I gain any A/V quality using HDMI output when i’m rolling footage from a dvcam tape in the vcr?? Will anybody see a difference from firewire quality?Thanks, Mark

I think I’ve seen this being reported once but I can’t remember what was the resolution. However, I’ll be interested to find out what firmware is your Sony HVR-M25U using? There is also an audio setting in there that sets the sampling rate of the audio output between 32k and 48k. Could you please check that and see if it is set to 48kHz?
When you capture via firewire, you’ll only be limited to the DV codec. When you capture via HDMI, you have the option of chosing from DV, ProRes & Uncompressed video. This gives you more option. Also, the deck has to convert the DV video on tape to a proper video signal on the HDMI output so it’s 4:2:2 YUV. Even though the video may already be compressed onto tape, the deck will still do a decent job of decoding the signal out via HDMI.

I’m having similar issues and do not get audio through the HDMI and my Intensity Pro when using a different Sony camera, an HDR-SR5. I can’t find any audio settigs on the camera itself, so I can’t check what you have suggested.
Also, I’m using Premiere Pro and even though I have followed the instructions in the PDF manual that came with the Intensity to set the settings, when I try to capture into Premiere the capture screen still says my camera is offline. I can capture video through the Media Express aplication from BlackMagic, but that’s when I get no audio…
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

I pretty much have no idea what I’m doing, other than that I had no audio and read your post, ask another question here, and then figured out how to get audio in with my video…
I see you’re on a Mac and I’m on a PC so this may not help you but I thought I’d share just in case. For some reason, when I installed the BM software and drivers for my Intensity Pro card, the drivers for the card itself installed, but not the Deck Control Audio driver. I found it here (C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\Blackmagic Intensity\Drivers and realize that will be a bit different for you. Anyway, hope that helps…

Hi Kristian,
I put in the new drivers for the card and i still don’t have any audio. My vcr is/was set @ 48k.
Any other ideas??
