No audio while capturing
For some reason when I am capturing dv in Final Cut Pro 4, there is no audio. However, it is capturing it because I checked the clip settings and it says it is capturing audio + video. Also, when I play the video back after capturing, there is audio, just not when capturing. Please help, I am a former premiere pro user and have gone through a lot of pain to get a mac that works. (right now many of the new powermac g5s have a fan problem)

Duplicate the DV capture preset you are using now. In the Preset editor window that will open when you duplicate, click on the advanced button in the audio area of the window. Turn speakers to ON in the pop up menu there… use this capture preset to have your computer’s speakers monitor audio when loging and capturing…

Here’s my story:
When I first booted-up, everything was fine. But then later on I booted up again and it sounded like a jet engine! Lots of people are having this problem and it is because apple made a change in the hardware, so most of the G5’s out there sound like air-conditionings right now and/or are freezing. I later found out that this was because there was a bad batch made in dec ’04. The problem seems to ly in a change in the SMU on the logic board to make production of power macs cheaper. However, a few of them do work, and others start having the problem right out of the box. Some other people have had this problem occur after a few months of purchase, so it can really occur at anytime.
