OK, I am sure I have done something wrong or as usual there are Gremlins in the system.
Have FCP HD on dual 1.8 with 23″ screen

Was editing, logging, etc just fine on previous session. Powered up to log/capture and no audio when viewing tape prior to capture.
The meters on the mixer window are working, when I play the time line I have audio, and after the capture I have audio.
But can’t seem to monitor the audio when playing the deck ( dsr 40 or my DVC 80 DVCam) thru FCP. Ck’d settings, and I changed nothing since last edit. Is there an E/E control on FCP that I might have missed?
Please help so I can continue to edit. I don’t want to take this to Apple’s shop. tx Jay

    Couple of quick ones:

    1) On the middle tab of log/capture, on the audio section, there is a check box labelled ‘preview’. Is this checked? sounds like the most likely cause of this problem.

    2) In system preferences check in the input/output tabs of the sound settings that the ‘mute’ box by the levels slider is not checked.

Thanks Ben…I cannot find in the log/capture on the middle tab, which is “clip settings” a box with “preview” listed..sound as if that would be it , if the option was available. tx Jay

As to your other tip, yes the mute is NOT checked

Jay – sorry, was away from my system and a little vague.

Open Log and Capture (default Apple+8)

Click on the middle tab on the right hand side labeled “Clip Setting”

On the section marked audio, to the right of the box for selecting the number of audio channels is a check box marked ‘preview’. This should be checked.

    Clearer?

Thanks again Ben, But I have HD and not 5, so I don’t have the option you are asking for. I have tried setting ALL Frames on the View menu, etc, and still nothing. Thanks
