no audio playback…but levels are moving…
I’m a fairly experienced editor…but I can’t figure this out, it’s got to be a setting/hardware mismatch.
I digitized some old D1 footage from MiniDV tape…2 channels of audio. The clip says “2 Mono” but when I load the clip in the viewer…there is no audio playback. The levels are moving on channel 2 in my VU meter…but no sound.
I put that clip in my timeline…same thing with the meter…no audio.
I take track 2 and put it on track 1 and wallah! I can hear the audio.
This is the ONLY project I’m having an issue with. Never had this problem before, I use clips all the time that are 1 stereo and 2 mono…I can’t figure it out.
Any ideas?

P.S. I’m using Matrox MXO2…running out to a mixer to speakers and headphones. I don’t think it’s the hardware though.

I can’t believe that I’ve been editing in Final Cut with my matrox hardware for 6 months and NEVER noticed that I didn’t have audio coming from my even channels…
My issue was that I only had channel 1 (thought it was mixing down to 1 channel) out to my mixer…after I posted, I continued to test and found that only odd channels had audio coming from them.
I feel like an idiot…
There should be a button to retract a post! 🙂
