no audio in pp cs4 timeline, error while performing conform on the file
Hi, This is my first post, so apologies if I screw up! I am editing with a windows xp pro dual core 3gh 4gb ram 2tb of hard drive in a pc especialy built for hdv editing by Scan computers of England.
I’m using cs4 premier pro, capturing hdv from a canon XhA1 via firewire, I have a black magic intensity pro but can’t use it because cs4 don’t support it yet.
My Problem,I have captured 2 hours of hdv from 2 mini dv tapes sucessfully, the third tape the footage contained no audio, video was fine but audio track was silent and no waveform showing, short version, tried 5 times each failed, but the footage played perfectly in windows media player,tried recapturing prior tapes, same problem, when trying a short test capture, 5 minutes, all is fine, but next capture fails. Have rebooted, captured to diff drives, removed temp files etc, tried total re install of cs4, left over night. premier shows warning after conformation on time line as folows ” An Unspecified error occurred while performing a conform on the following file” It does not list any file. Thank you for any suggestions. -

I’ve been hanging around the adobe forums and even though there the usual ex-beta testers who swear cs4 premiere is the best NLE ever. There has yet to be one person who can edit/import HDV and also nobody can seem to get avchd to work is a way that doesn’t resemble editing uncompressed HD.
I do remember a guy who works for Adobe saying there was a bug that stopped HDV footage from capturing/encoding after certain time span had passed. He definitely said that it was expected in a future.
CS4 is the RED camera NLE’s.

I can’t belive I’m the only one to have bought pp cs4, I prob was one of the first. -
Capture with a different program. Edit with CS3 or Sony or download a Sony Vegas Demo. Return CS4 if it’s been less than 30 days.
The 4.0.1 didn’t fix anything HDV related any your not the only one having problems capturing footage with CS4 (check out the CS4 Premiere forum). A guy from Adobe said said would be addressed in big update in Febuary most likely. (I lost the link but I read on the Adobe forums)
