  • no audio from FX30’s 3.5mm input?

I’ve tried 3 different wired lavs into the 3.5mm mic input (not headphones input) of my Sony FX30 (I do not have the XLR handle) and had zero levels. These lavs worked fine on my iPhones, tho an adapter was needed. Wondering if something is wrong w the camera or if it’s designed not to deliver power in some way to these kind of mics. I can get audio from an XLR mic if I run it through an iRig Pre 2 preamp to the FX30’s 3.5mm mic jack if that helps.

Any thoughts? And I checked the manual and it got me nowhere. The only references to phantom power are for the XLR handle which I do not own.
