  • No Audio Files on Timeline at FCP XML Import

Hopefully someone can help me out, because I’m stressing. I have a large project that I’ve been working on with a FCP editor. As was part of our plan, he’s now turning it back over to me to finish up in Premiere. He exported an XML for me to import into Premiere CS6, which I’ve done without any issues with other editors, but when I imported it, the timeline only had video. There was one audio track, which was completely empty; there should have been 8, with many files. Any idea as to why this is happening?

Brad, did you ever figure this out? I have the same issue.

I did, through a bit of an around-the-way solution. It seemed like the XML couldn’t properly handle the number of audio cuts and tracks (there were a lot of them), so we broke down the FCP into sub-sequences, with less tracks on each timeline, and exported XMLS for each sub-sequence. Then merged them with copy and paste.

It wasn’t too much of a pain, and it worked.

Thanks! We were also able to find a work around just now by exporting an additional XML containing only the audio. Which I then copy and paste back into the sequence and sync with the video. They are two separate clips in the bin until you relink them and shift + Alt drag the original clip back down to replace them on the timeline which effectively merges them back into one clip linked to the original media. Pain in the butt but it works.
