No Audio except on FCP6
I cannot hear any audio on any application (Soundtrack Pro, DVD player, itunes, etc.) EXCEPT when Final Cut Pro is running in the foreground.
That is, I can start a song in itunes and cmd-tab to FCP and hear my itunes playing. If I cmd-tab back to itunes, I get a burst of static and silence.
I have two machines with identical specs behaving in the same way.

Driver version 6.6.2Mac Pro
2×2.66 dual-core xeon
4 GB 667 MHz DDR2
OS X 10.4.11 -

i had serious problems with 6.6.2’s firmware. Load 6.4 on a machine and see if that fixes it..

I couldn’t find 6.4, but I found 6.1 on Blackmagic’s website. I loaded that version and still the same problem.
