  • No Audio after Rendering

    Hello, this is my first post here so excuse me if I’m doing something wrong. ^^;
    I’m having a problem in Sony Vegas Pro 9 with audio after rendering to .wmv. It just started recently, as I’ve had no problems with it before. I haven’t changed any settings, and now, when the video renders the video plays fine but there is no audio whatsoever.
    The audio plays fine alone and in the project, it just doesn’t work after rendering to .wmv. Again, it used to work, so I know it can, but it no longer does. I do have “include audio” checked when I render.

    In case it’s needed, the template is 8 Mbps HD 1030-30p Video. The video is set to CBR mode, wmv 9 format, and the image size is HD 1280×720. The audio is set to Quality VBR mode, wma 10 professional format, and VBR quality 10 44kHz, 2 channel 24 bit VBR. The original files are .avi and I’ve had no problem with them before…

    Is there something I’m doing wrong?

    This may be a ridiculous question, but when rendering are you sure you don’t have the audio track muted in the timeline?

    Also, have you tried rendering the project as something simple like an mp3 file to see if you get any audio (without the video)?

    I’ve checked, and it hasn’t been muted. When I render to an mp3 file the audio works fine. It just doesn’t want to work when I render to wmv for some reason…

    Can you post screen captures of what you do step by step?

    “The audio is set to Quality VBR mode, wma 10 professional format, and VBR quality 10 44kHz, 2 channel 24 bit VBR”

    if 24 bit VBR means 24 bit audio, try setting it to 16 bit and see what happens.

    @Dave:
    Here are some screen shots:
    https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v324/YumiKaida/SV1.png I open the project I’m working on, check to make sure it plays.
    https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v324/YumiKaida/SV2.png Go to render as…
    https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v324/YumiKaida/SV3.png Type in the location and name, then click custom
    https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v324/YumiKaida/SV4.png Set custom audio
    https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v324/YumiKaida/SV5.png and custom video
    Then I click OK and then save, and it renders like it always does.

    @Mike: Just tried that, and still no luck.

    I seemed to be having the same problem and fixed it by saving it in WMV form. Of course it might be that I changed something else as i also fixed it by saving it making sure the audio and video were both open or not greyed out. I am not sure. But saving it in wmv seems the best at least to me. I had not muted the audio either so that was not the problem. Have a nice day.
