  • No Audio After “Make DVD” DVDA Pro 6.0

I am trying to render a project from Sony Vegas Pro 11 to DVDA 6.0. Files for rendering are mpeg-2 (no audio) and AC-3 5.1 surround. When previewing in DVDA, there is sound. When previewing the AC-3 file from DVDA explorer window, there is sound. Both files are named exactly the same except for extension and in the same folder. Properties in DVDA are set to mpeg-2 and AC-3 surround, 48000 and 16 bit. Tried burning to two discs and both had no audio. (Time to start using DVD-RW for testing.)

What am I missing? I have burned several, several projects without ever having this problem. If I can hear the audio during preview, doesn’t that tell me that everything up to that point is fine? If not, is there something in the Vegas AC-3 render that needs adjusting, i.e., audio device settings?

A response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

….Still trying to get audio from my DVDA render. Does it matter that I don’t combine the stereo audio tracks in Vegas Pro 11 before rendering to AC-3 5.1 surround? I have rendered 5.1 before with no problem. The only changes in the method of prep used in Vegas was utilizing the panning ability and selecting the “show automation controls.” Checked the settings in DVDA several times to be sure they are correct. Preview in DVDA works seamlessly. Burned DVD has audio in the menu but not in movie.. The menu is not 5.1.

    Help?

If this is a bug, is there any program out there that would render my mpeg-2 and ac-3 5.1 surround files to VOB for DVD?

    I am on a timeline….but, I guess, isn’t everybody? LOL

    Any help appreciated.

I can’t tell by the information in your posts, but how are you testing the DVD? Are you using a DVD player other than your computer or using your computer’s DVD player software? Does this player support 5.1 audio with other disks? I was wondering if the player was set to play stereo rather than 5.1. I have not tried 5.1 audio yet with DVDA.

Update 01/08/2013…Rendered on DVDA 5.2 with same results… The video bitrate is 9.088 Mbps, audio is 448 Kbps. If video bitrate too high, will that kick out the audio? ….if that is a silly question, I am sorry….just trying to think outside the box.

    UPDATE:

After testing and retesting a gazillion times and methods, I seem to have stumbled across a solution to my problem. This may not work for all audio problems, but it seems to be the fix in this case. This solution has worked twice consecutively.

Initially, I had disabled the “enable LFE” on the render settings of the 5.1 surround audio out of Sony Vegas Pro 11. After a last-ditch effort to try something else, I enabled the LFE. When the “make DVD” process completed in DVD Architect, I was blessed with the sweet, sweet sound of AUDIO from the DVD! Yay!

Hopefully, my solution helps others out there with no audio after their render.
