Nikon G lens on AF100?
I would like to purchase a Nikon 24-70 f2.8 lens for my AF100. This is a G lens with no manual aperture control so I will also be getting a Novoflex Nikon to Micro Four Thirds Lens Adapter with a built in aperture ring. My question is how do you set the Nikon lens to f2.8 (wide open) without a Nikon camera body?

Using the aperture ring on the Novoflex adapter, which connects to the aperture control of the G lens.
The Adaptimax adapter has a threaded screw that controls the aperture of Nikon G lenses, which is probably slower to operate than the Novoflex ring, but it might provide finer control of the lens iris.

I see. Thanks. I was under the mistaken impression that there is a separate aperture in the adapter itself and so you needed to set the lens aperture wide open.
One of the criticisms of the Novoflex adapter is that fine tuning of the aperture is difficult. Do you know who sells the Adaptimax adapter in the USA?

The novoflex is a very good adapter. I use it and like it. The Adaptimax is more expensive, I believe its $400.00 and is available from B&H and from them direct. I did a blog post on adapters today. Check it out. https://tinyurl.com/3k6d4o8

Thanks Erik. Very helpful. The novoflex seems like a good choice for me. I am just wonder if the Adaptimax Plus f-stop adjustment knob has finer control that might be worth the extra expense…
I have a Nikon 24-70 f.2.8 on the way for use on my AF100, and have never used a G lens with no aperture ring. -
I have heard good things about the MetaBones Nikon F adapter available on eBay for about $90. It is supposed to be a “clone” of the more expensive Voightlander adapter.
There is one more high-end adapter company worth looking at called MtfServices.com, that produce an adapter that can control Nikon G lenses. It’s in the same price range as the Adaptimax products.

I do believe the screw adjustment on the Adaptimax Plus has more travel to it than the Novoflex, I got to the point that I couldn’t spend anymore than the budget I set. These adapters are expensive so you should feel good about what you spend. Regret hurts when you throw done a few hundred on something as boring as a adapter.
MtfServices.com is a good adapter. Its made in Europe like the Adaptimax and the exchange rate is bad so we get hammered even more on the cost.

I use a $39 Fotodiox adapter with my ‘G’ lenses, which works just fine. Have no idea how long it will last, so I bought two of them and carry one as a spare.
