    im required to create a realistic as possilbe night view of the sky with gilttering stars. I also need to animate lines connecting the stars to form ‘zodiac like’ images.

    I’m blank and dont know where to start and im considered new to after effects, so pls.. HELP! thank you! 😀

    Did you try NASA? They have many images there.

    For the stars, consider duplicating the shot and making it bloom with the Glow effect, then using a layer (with fractal noise applied) as a luma matte for that blooming layer. Animate the evolution of the fractal noise to your taste, and it will bring the blooming layer in and out of visibility.

    Doesn’t Google now have a Google Sky thingy? Or am I again imagining things.

    Your only issue would be to muck around with the Glow plugin. Check AE’s Effects Help under the Help Menu – where else.
