    Hi Gang,
I am animating a night flight through some wispy clouds with a backdrop of a distant star field and a full moon. The camera perspective banks through the clouds (like Peder Norby’s example using Trapcode Particular) and I am wondering if I should also bank the perspective of the moon and stars to match it. Since they are so distant, would their horizon/perspective also change? I don’t have any real life way of testing this out I’d appreciate any advice on the matter. Thanks in advance! -Cathy

I just wanted to add that I’ve parented the camera motion to the night sky background and it doesn’t look at all correct when animated. I’m stumped!

I’d really like to see how it looks at the moment. Is there any change you could post a small mov file with the animation?

You should treat yourself to a night drive on a moonlit night =)

My own experience would tell me that, due to its distance, the moon appears to hang in the night sky as though it were tacked onto a very distant wall. This means that tracking should not affect the position of the moon very much, but panning definitely should. I would recommend making the moon a very distant 3D layer, this should come close to a ‘natural’ perspective of the moon.

The sky and moon should definitely be distant 3D layers. You can increase the scale if you don’t plan on getting close to them. Don’t parent them to the camera. You might need to compose a few different layers to make a 360

I will see if I can create a small version of the animation and post it here for you to look at. Thanks for your comments!

LOL – well looks like I’m stumped again. I have a 106 KB Flash .FLV file to post but no where can I find instructions for posting it here. Is there an ultra secret hidden way to do this? Please share!
