Create New Project
Select portion of clip you’d like to export
Make Compound Clip
Copy
Paste in New Project
Export New Project

You can break apart Compound Clip if you’d like.
Compound Clip isn’t absolutely necessary but it’s just a visual aid allowing you to check that you’ve selected everything you want to.
