NFS instead of sparse bundles
Either people don’t know about this or there’s some limit I’m not aware of.
If your export the share as NFS instead of AFP San Locations work. No need to fool FCPX into thinking it’s a local drive.

Is there anything stopping another user from mounting the same SAN Location?

Yes, the same mechanism that restricts actual San locations.

Our SAN doesn’t restrict without using a system called ProjectStore which is why I was asking.
Are you using Xsan?

I’d guess your SAN looks exactly like a internal/external drive to the OS.
We are using Xsan but NFS shares act the same as far as FCPX is concerned.

But it doesn’t to FCPX as the SAN does not show up until I add a SAN Location.
Without a SAN Location, I cannot add Events/Projects to the SAN.
That’s why I was curious as to how it was working for you.
