  • Next step up from Bogen 501 tripod head w/reasonable price.

Posted by Todd Roush on May 31, 2005 at 9:56 pm

I have been using the Bogen 501 for quite a while with much success, but I am noticing that in a 4000 seat theater that the camera moves look a little shaky or staggared…..it sticks a little (I have 2).

    1. Is it the 513 that is the next up?

    2. Is the 501 really a fluid head or do you need the 503?

    Thanks!

    S.

I have used a number of tripod/head combos over the years, including the 501 with wonderful results.
As with any type of gear, proper maintenance and adjustment over time are required.
Also properly setting the amount of drag for the appropriate camera weight aids in getting smooth fluid moves.

I made the jump and got a 503 (525MVB Package from B&H). It makes a difference, and the price is well worth it.
