    Hello,

Our organisation is looking into buying a storage (FC/iSCSi) to setup our new branch office. Currently based on our commercials and requirements, the options have come down to

    1. HP MSA P2000 G3 (FC/iSCSi combo array) dual controller and

    2. Nexsan E48 series (FC/iscsi ports) dual controller

We are highly impressed by the above two products and they seem similar feature wise as well. It would be highly appreciated if some of the veterans out here could point out some major differences between the above two which would help us make the correct decision. Pricing is no more a factor with the above two, as it has now all come down to make a selection.

    Regards,

    Dan

it never ceases to amaze me, that with all the posts of the shared storage companies representatives on this forum, and all the advertising done by the shared storage companies on Creative Cow, and other video trade publications, gentlemen like Dan continue to say “what do you think is better – HP, Dell, EMC, …….).
None of these brands are dedicated to the video shared storage business. There are at least 20 companies, that appear on these forums, that go to the NAB show, and other professional video trade shows, that offer wonderful solutions for you.

So, in my stupid opinion, I would suggest looking at a video shared storage solution, that you can see discussed on these forums, and appear in advertising on Creative Cow, and other video trade publications, and completely ignore generic IT solution products.

What you using these for and what are you connecting them to?

I wouldn’t mind having that NexSAN box for my XSan storage, but I would not consider it for branch office storage… Same goes for the HP (AVOID!).

Check out Small-Tree, or NexSAN NST series, or many other solutions for a nice NAS. Why are you going Fibre channel?
