newslike crawl
Posted by Tom Fraser on September 5, 2009 at 7:03 pmI’d like to do a”newslike” informational crawl at the bottom of my video where do I find a plugin that facilitates this, or is there a way to do it in FCP-Motion??

September 5, 2009 at 7:13 pmFinal Cut does this. Open your generators button in the lower right of your viewer, and under text, select crawl.

September 5, 2009 at 7:23 pmI would like the text to travel right to left across the bottom of the video, with a border separating it visually from the picture.
I don’t see a function like this in FCP or Motion. -

September 5, 2009 at 7:26 pmIt’s definitely in Final Cut. Under the generators. Maybe it’s a scroll as opposed to a crawl, I always mix the two up. You’ll still have to create a banner underneath (like most news channels do) but the left to right text can absolutely be done in FCP.

September 5, 2009 at 10:44 pmI would try with the Boris crawl rather than the FCP text tools. You have to select crawl not roll and although I haven’t used it in that mode, I am sure you can pick direction.
Like Richard said, you create the strap separately.

September 6, 2009 at 8:03 amBetter still is Alex Gollner’s Text Crawl plugin … not only does it remove the inherent string length limitations of the built-in plugins but it’s also font agnostic, adds a variety of shadow and banner controls plus allows for fixed crawl rates too.

Alex has been putting out a host of new and/or modified plugins over the last months and his collection is well grabbing. Seriously good stuff, and all free.
