    Hello!

I am making a documentary and we want to use news clips and/or headlines & tweets to illustrate a growing viral movement. Lots of fair use/copyright stuff has got me confused, and I’d rather avoid it if I can help it.

I’d like to use stills of headlines, tweets & instas – anyone know information on this specifically? Does it count?

    Thank you 🙂

Here is an article that I penned (clicked?) years ago but the laws haven’t yet changed. Give it a read and see how your circumstances fit the guidelines — or don’t.

You cannot just grab people on Instagram, Facebook, etc., or you could find yourself in some hot water. The fair use and privacy rules that apply for celebrities are different for those who have a reasonable expectation of privacy — even if they are on a public forum. It’s a matter of degree.

    Best regards,
