[Lloyd Paul Rivers] “whats the best settings to use within handbrake?”

None. Do not use Handbrake for ripping DVDs for use in edit systems. It won’t encode to a format that is compatible. Use MPEG STREAMCLIP and convert to the Avid DV codec. Or Avid 1:1.

Sorry but handbrake does make a file compatible with Avid – won’t be highest (professional) quality but it does indeed make useable files. 🙂

Shane’s advice is correct. We would not be doing the students of editing justice if we offered unprofessional advice. Use Streamclip to rip (you can set in and out points too)…
