  • NewBlue Titler Pro 1 and 2 keep crashing Vegas Pro 12

I haven’t found much online about this problem, but I’m hoping it isn’t just me.

I recently upgraded from Vegas Pro 11 to Vegas Pro 12. In Vegas 11, I was running a lot of NewBlueFx plugins with ease, especially the original NewBlueFX ProTitler 1. However, since making the switch to Vegas Pro 12, the ProTitler has started stamping everything with a watermark and freezes when I try to “activate with a serial”. However, other recent plugins like NewBlueFx ColorFast don’t give this same problem (except that ColorFast seems to require the new Titler 2.0)

Removing and re-installing (I don’t have the original ProTitler 1.0 installer anymore and the NewBlue website doesn’t seem to either) led to Vegas 12 not being able to open and crashing at the startup (“creating video plugins”).

I downloaded the NewBlueFX ProTitler 2.0 and it gives the same issue! Vegas 12 refuses to start – but as soon as I remove the ProTitler, it starts up like a champ.

Currently, I have removed the ProTitler 2.0, and kept the ProTitler 1.0 – which means that my Vegas doesn’t even start up anymore and freezes at the startup menu. I would love some insight into this.

What am I doing wrong? And why do all the other NBFX plugins work, except ProTitler? I’ve contacted both Sony and NewBlue in the last 48 hours, but still no response.

Because Newblue Titler is very system intensive and needs a
powerful graphics card to run efficiently. Its not a Sony Vegas
issue, Newblue FX however will soon respond to you.

Steve is right, it is not Sony’s problem. Also, alot of the time when you uninstall something using the control panel, there are tons of things that do not get uninstalled. Starting a help ticket with NewBlue would be the best route.

On a side note, it is unstable on my system also. In my case, it is fine the first time I use it on a project. I can make all the adjustments I want when first creating the title. After I close it though, any new instance of the Titler or even trying to modify the one I had just created crashes Vegas.

It’s too bad because visually, it is capable of very impressive titles. I didn’t care enough to make the herculean (Sarcasm) effort of contacting their support however.

Let us know how it goes.

Whenever you uninstall something, it still leaves ‘stuff’ around. Even with drivers (there is a special utility that I use if I swap hardware components, to completely remove ALL driver remnants before installing new drivers).

Besides removing the folder left behind, you’ll want to remove any registry entries. In the ‘Run’ box, type ‘regedit’ (without the quotes), and go to HKYLocalMachine, then click on SOFTWARE. Find the folder for the removed product and delete it.

But as others have stated, your issue is hardware related.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m still waiting on NewBlueFX to get back to me.

When I uninstalled the ProTitler 1.0 and 2.0, I went through and deleted folders and ran through regedit as well.

The newest update to this problem is that the NewBlueFX plugins are all working fine (I deleted and reinstalled all of them – it was a pain!) on my Vegas Pro 12 – just as long as I don’t dare to install ProTitler 2.0

Pat – you’re right about the beautiful designs that ProTitler is capable of, if only it wasn’t so unstable! What’s strange is that while others experienced ProTitler 1.0 issues on their Vegas 11, I never did. I can’t recall a single time that it didn’t work smoothly.

Dave – you said this was a hardware issue. How did we determine that? And has anyone figured out the mystery of why NewBlueFX doesn’t let us specify 32bit or 64bit on its website when downloading ProTitler 2.0

Newblue Titler is simply just too system intensive and touch
an go for what it does.

If you have an older version of Titler Pro 1 installed (i.e. a version released before Vegas Pro 12), it will show a watermark in Vegas Pro 12. If you install the current version (just go to “check for updates”), that version will not show a watermark in Vegas Pro 12 as long as you are using the OpenFX version.

You can get the current version by going back to the link provided to you by Sony. Just download from this page:

A comment to which I thoroughly disagree. Yes, you do need a reasonably current video card and up-to-date video driver but it works very well on the vast majority of systems.

I have the same problem. When I first bring the plug-in up it works fine. If I shut it down and try to return to my project it opens OK but then if I try to edit it blows Sony up. Like you I use Video Essentials and those plugins work fine. I have been through 3 video cards and am now using a recommended NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670. My system works great except for this problem. Did you get any solution or are you still trying to figure this out?

Joseph, the last contact you had with NewBlue, it was trying to use an Intel video card which is not supported. I do not see any e-mails from you after sending instructions on how to turn off the Intel card on May 7th.

Thanks for getting back. I am on the road now so I would like to talk later today or tomorrow if you are in. I have tried two other cards since we talked. Do have some observations. Love your product when I can make it work. How long are you there today.
