    Good afternoon,

I’m really new to a lot of this HD equipment i.e. HD camera/ HD software/ hardware requirements. I’m looking for an affordable HD set-up HD cam & computer. I’ve spent hours searching web sites for info on what best suits my current needs, what won’t become obsolete in a couple of years and a set-up I can afford. And yes… as soon as the learning curve has somewhat been achieved, I’d like to make some cash doing this.

With that said, I just feel a bit overwhelmed with conflicting opinions, new technologies around the corner and system requirements to get the job done.

So, I’ve narrowed it down to the following:
    Camera – Sony HVRZ1U HD
    Apple G5
    FCP 5

The main questions I have is on the G5 set-up with out breaking the bank.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Jason

Hm… Sounds like you’ve set your mind.
As of the G5, any will do actually.

Buy the biggest and baddest you can afford, that’s the one that’s going to serve you the longest.

Just remember to pop in at least 1 gb of RAM and a second HD (for media) and you’ll be up and running.

    Amen to that.

I’d even go so far as to suggest bumping the RAM up to 2Gb if you can. Stretch your dollar as far as you can, you’ll be glad you did in the long run.
