  • Newbie question: how to make polygons from splines

    Hello,

    Using CE+ v6…

I need to make an odd-shaped box.

I’ve created a sort of a flat square shape using the Draw Bezier Spline tool; this will represent one of two opposing sides of a box. My goal was to duplicate it, offset it on the z-plane by 200m, then ‘merge’ them to create a new polygon.

    1. Is this possible, and with what tools do I use?
    2. Is there a better way to skin this cat? I understand that I could create a cube and pull my shape out, but I’m looking to understand all the program’s features.

    Take care,

    Nick

Create an extrudeNURBS object and drag your spline into it in the Object Manager.

    Hey,

Thanks for you reply. I managed to find another way to do what I needed doing, the problem I had was that when I went to extrude a side, little canyons were appearing in my extrusions where polygon segments were. All I had to do was to make sure that ‘preserve groups’ was checked (I must have unchecked it when playing around with the program).

    Take care,

    Nick
