  • Newbie Question: FCP Bad Timecode??

Posted by Phil on November 8, 2005 at 4:32 pm

Just logged a BETA tape, and when i go to batch capture, FCP rewinds the tape ALL the way to the beginning, but keeps getting caught on the first few frames of the tape and says that it has reached the “end of the tape”, when in reality it is the very begginning. Now i understand that it has something to do with timecode, but what i don’t understand is why it keeps rewinding the tape to the very beginning when there is nothing logged at the very begginning of the tape….weird i know. is the probelm the tape, FCP 5, or me??? 🙂

    thanks

Any chance there’s a wayward clip in your batch that doesn’t belong?

That’s happened to me a time or two!

Otherwise, when you logged, I’d guess you used the “mark in-mark out, log clip” method? Is there any chance the TC changed at some point on the BSP tape and restarted or anything funky like that? Do all the TCs in your batch “look right” in the browser?

If there’s nothing amiss in the logs, I’d just save and quit and restart first. See if that clears it up,

After that, it might be a trash prefs/repair permissions thing.
