    HELP!!

OK I think I really screwed something up now.

I was having problems opening up an .eps file in my photoshop 4.0 LE so I installed photoshop 7.0
(I sent the eps file to a friend and he said he had no problem opening the file in PS7)
I continued to have a problem as a message stating something about “Rasterize”? continued to pop-up. I read this had something to do with layering…

I surmised the problem might be that I had both versions of photoshoop installed on my computer and that the 4.0 LE edition might be interfering with the PS7 edition.
I transferred the 4.0 LE to an external hardrive

After I transferred the file I completely removed the
program from my ‘Program’ file. (I think I removed
something in Adobe that I needed.)

NOW THERE IS SOMETHING MISSING ON MY COMPUTER..

    1) When I try to open the logo (.eps file) there is no
longer a ‘Run’ option, now it says ‘Find’
When I click this menu it takes me to an Adobe website
and prompts me to purchase photoshop.

    2) When I try to open Photoshop 7.0 on my computer a
menu comes up stating “could not complete your request
because of missing or invalid personalization
    information” ???

    3) When I try to re-install photoshop 4.0 LE I
continue to get a message stating “the item that this
shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this
shortcut will no longer work properly.”

    I’m stuck!

    Reinstall version 7.

Never remove a program by just “moving” it elsewhere. You need to go through the system’s “Add/Remove” feature and remove it that way.

    Tiffani,
Thanks for your reply. I am now back up and running with photoshop 7. However, I am still stuck with my original problem:

I am trying to open an .eps file When I click ‘run’ I get a menu in photoshop titled ‘Rasterize Generic EPS Format’ If I click OK I get a message stating photoshop could not open the file because the parser module cannot parse the file?

Any help and/or leads where to find information on rasterize and parse would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again,

    Cut

PS I plan to re-post this message under a new heading as well.

It sounds like the file is corrupted. Can you delete it, and replace it with a new one? Have the person who created it open it on their machine and resave it, then send it to you to try.

Yo Cut, You can’t “open” a .eps in P-Shop without it rasterizing. To use it as a vector file in P-Shop do the following:

    1. Create a new PS doc, set dimensions according to final output.
    2. In “File” pulldown menu, select “Place”: navigate to and select/place the desired .eps file.
    3. The file will appear on a new layer with a rectangular bounding box around it. You can scale the .eps without degradation at this point by grabbing a corner. Note that to retain original aspect ratio you must hold down shift key WHILE scaling.
    4. After size is set, hit enter key to rasterize file and set it into layer. Any scaling of layer now will produce artifacting.
An eps file can be manipulated in After Effects without rasterizing, which is nice.
    Good luck. Scimmy
