I’m creating a camera and the body has some text on it in various places. I can create and map graphics and text on lenses and stuff, but creating a map for the awkward shaped body would be a bear. Is there a way for me to just create alpha text and be able to place that where I want it onto the camera body (like a decal). The body already has a shader on it. Hope this makes sense.

    thanks,

If the decal is going on a curved section you’ll most likely have to flatten the camera’s UVs in BodyPaint. Then you can apply the decal material with UVW mapping and used the texture tag’s offset and scale options to place it.

Thanks, that seemed to work for the most part (the UV mapping part – I have yet to try BodyPaint); but how do map it to only one portion of the body of the camera… It seems to tile (even though tile is unchecked) and I’ve got multiple decals on all sides…

Also, I created a black alpha for the bottom of my camera and placed it along with my silver camera shader. It RENDERS fine, but in my edit window, my camera ‘body’ is gone (see through), only the black bottom portion is there.. But when I render it, both show up. What gives?

    thanks,

The alpha probably appears to tile because you have overlapping UVs. That’s why you’re going to have to dig into BodyPaint’s UV editing tools I’m afraid.

As far as the viewport issue, I think that will clear up if you select “stacked materials” from the viewport>display menu.
