  NEWBIE NEEDS ADVICE

  this is probably going to draw some laughs but i gotta ask. i am a new user of fcp 5.0 though i have edited before most the material went to the web so i didn’t learn to PRINT or EDIT to tape.

  here’s my set up

  G5 D2 HARD EXTREME 2.8 DUAL with 1 GIG of RAM RUNNING TIGER 10.4
  3 LaCie drives 250 each in a firewire 800 daisychain
  FCP 5.0
  SONY DSR-11
  TWO VISTA LINE 17 inch monitors

  So I have a sequence built as DVPAL and I am tryin to EDIT TO TAPE. My settings are standard DVPAL all the way capture, sequence etc. So when i try to edit to tape. mirror to desktop is selected.

  each time i EDIT to TAPE…there’s no signal to the tape deck. on the actual tape when i play back is just gray not black but gray

  so i try to PRINT to TAPE…i get about 5 minutes through my sequence then i get a dropped frames abort message.

  is this a fire wire 400 to 800 thing?

  confused and needing help
