Newbie in the house.
Posted by Bur Ci on March 24, 2017 at 5:55 pmHello all,
So to make things short, looking at the pic, I have two cylinder objects. I would like to know how to delete the space within the bigger cylinder, in which the smaller cylinder is. Any hint in the right direction would be really appreciated.
best!

March 24, 2017 at 7:09 pmwe are talking about the two cylinders in the center? Either you need to know about the Boole object or why not make that out of a Tube object?

March 24, 2017 at 9:16 pmBrian thanks for the prompt reply. Normally I would, however I believe that I have seen this type of “function “( the one that I originally wanted to do) so I’m kinda of curious how this can be done. So any follow up on the Boole object would be nice.

March 24, 2017 at 9:23 pmread about the Boole object in the Help for more info but like a lot of C4D you add a Boole object (Create/Modelling/Boole or it’s in the interface under the Array object along the top of the viewport) and add the two cylinders as children of the Boole, then in it’s default mode “A Subtract B” it will subtract the second object from the first so if you get the larger diameter cylinder as the first child and the smaller diameter cylinder as the second object it should work like you want

I thought I could come back to you regarding booling once more. I now have the following issue and feeling a bit frustrated with the trying to use the bool on extracted objects.
Essentially, I am building a game boy and trying to create the indents along the body (case ). I created the dents and body using extracted vector lines so I am not sure if this plays a role in the Booling. When I try to place both of the together using Bool, well not much happens other than the body vanishing. meh..
So any words of life advice for me here? Thanks in advance.

March 29, 2017 at 10:58 pmit should work but try unchecking High Quality in the Boole object Object tab, that sometimes will give bad results if the input is complex enough

Thanks for the replay. I did try it out but the results were mixed. The body ended up with a missing facade but with the indents correctly subtracted and in place. I ended up just creating a seperate facade.
thanks again!
