Hello, I shoot my footage in 4k. When I am working with my clips, they are huge and can cause some sluggishness with my PC from time to time. Is there a way I can do something with the clips upon import to reduce them from 4k to something else that is smaller and easier to work with and then reverse what I initially did so I can export in high quality? Open to any suggestions!

    Thanks,

    Nick

First, you can playback your video in 1/2 1/4 1/8 resolution in the composition window. There should be a little button on the bottom right of the player window.

Second, you can take full advantage of adobe media encoder. Using Adobe native codecs, although front-end intensive will help.

Third, make sure that Adobe Premiere has full access to a solid allocated amount of RAM.

Fourth. Take advantage of proxy-files for large projects.

I’m not going to go into full detail for each because there’s plenty of youtube videos for all 4 of these! ☺ Good luck!
