Newbie!! How do I get my video to computer?
As the title states, I am brand new to this.. I need help getting my video from my camcorder to my computer.. I have only figured out how to record from camcorder to computer.. I dont know how to get my recorded tape video from camcorder to computer. Please HELP!!

Hi,
I don’t know your model of camera but it should have a firewire port on it. Hook a firewire cable up to that and then the other side to your computer’s firewire port and turn your camera on play. Open Vegas and go to File/Capture. Be sure to select the right option (there are two- one for HD (high definition) and one for SD (standard definition). Whichever one you filmed in should be the option you choose. Then you can name your clips (or events- just another name for clips) and tell the program where you want to start recording with the VCR like controls. Once done, the files (clips) will populate in your project media folder within Vegas and you can drag and drop them to your timeline.
Hope that helps.
A word of caution, firewire ports can short out. You may want to make sure your computer and camera is off before you plug in the firewire cord.
