    I have a newbie audio question…

I have been filming studio interviews using my GL2 and an Audio Technica lavalier mic connected to a MA-300 adapter on the cam through XLR. I have manually bumped my audio levels to almost max on the GL2. When I import the video/audio into FCP (left channel only) through an AJA Io box, my audio is very low (-30 Db in FCP).

Am I doing something wrong? Or is the audio always that low?

Make sure your GL2 doesn’t have the MIC ATT setting activated. This would pad the incoming lav signal too much. The MIC ATT setting is turned on/off in the GL2’s on-screen menus.

Remember too, that the MA-300 doesn’t provide phantom power, so any mic, lav or otherwise needs to have its own power supply.
