Newbie frame rate question
Hi,
I normally record screen capture in Camtasia at 1080p 30 fps.
I just bought a DSLR which records at 1080p 50 fps.I want to make tutorial videos where the screen capture from Camtasia is full screen and have a small picture-in-picture talking head of myself from the DSLR showing in the bottom corner.
I’m swapping over to Premiere Pro because audio is bad in Camtasia.
Are the different frame rates from Camtasia and the DSLR going to cause a problem in Premiere Pro? Can I leave them as is or should I set them both to 25 fps so they match? (Camtasia can’t go higher than 30 fps).

Are you sure it’s 50fps? Most DSLRs record 24, 25,30, sometimes 60, but default is 24 or 30. Either of those are normal framerates, 24 being film-style and 30 tv although both are used on tv now.
Check your settings. 25 is normal for Europe like 30 for USA. 24 is film rate universally.

Quite a lot of dslr record in 50….(if it is set to PAL).

I’ll try experimenting with different settings but now I know to expect 25 fps on both to be best.
Bret – I was kinda expecting the camera to be able to record in 25, 30, 50 or 60 fps for 1080p (it’s a Panasonic G7 and can record in 4K). It only supports 25 or 50 fps though. So I learned something new, the supported frame rates depend on which region you buy the camera in (I’m in Thailand).
