I am trying to cut together a simple sequence to music, I am using Free Avid on a Mac G5/Tiger. I have tried importing an audio file in many different formats and all of them sound like an approaching helicopter.

It is an mp3 and I am using Sound Studio to convert it. I’ve tried; AIFF and AIFF-C as Quicktime, as well as Wave and sound designer and none of them work. Am I missing some import preference?

    Any help much appreciated.

Have you set the correct sample rate for your project? 48KHz?

Is this one specific audio track or does the same happen to all audio sources such as camera audio via firewire?

Is this on playback from the timeline?

it seems to be happening to any audio import, even from a store cd – haven’t tried a direct audio recording yet
