Posted by Louis Brunner on November 17, 2006 at 2:51 pmHi I am a newbee to cinema 4d, but I know 3d studio max and I was wondering if anyone knows of a website or something that translates 3d studio max lingo to cinema 4d.

and welcome. There is no such translation tool or plugin available. You have to do it manually.

November 17, 2006 at 7:39 pmBluntly, they are very similar in nature, save for the fact that Max’s mechanical interpretations are slightly different from C4D’s. If you peruse the Cinema 4D manual table of contents and glossary, almost all of your translation questions will be answered immediately.

November 18, 2006 at 4:44 pmYepp, like Michael said, just consult the manual. All 3D progs are pretty much based on the same mathematical and physical principles and thus use similar terminology. Only the placement of the buttons differs quite a lot *giggle*. Simple rule: If you don’t find it in the index, it ain’t there. C4D does for instance not use material IDs and sub-materials nor has it a modifier stack, of course.
