  • New workstation with Premiere Pro 2023 Jittery Playback in Program Monitor ONLY

    Dear colleagues,
I have been using Premiere Pro for the past eight years now. To make my workflow more efficient and up to date, I have invested in and built a new workstation. All excited about 12core Ryzen 5900 / Corsair Vegenance LPX 4×16 3200mhz RAM, GeForce RTX 3060Ti on ASUS Dark Hero VIII, I have installed the newest Premiere Pro v.23.6, created a new project, but to my surprise, the playback on Program Monitor is very jittery: https://youtu.be/OpWxpIF5hUc

I have checked and implemented all the advised actions, and potential reasons why this occurs, but the video on preview is still looping and choppy. Please see below the steps I have undertaken to deal with this matter:

    * Hardware checked for updates and drivers
    * Checked the Sequence and Clip settings
    * Cleared the Media Cache
    * Lowered the resolution and use proxies
    * Installed a previous v22 version
    * Read most posts on the PP community support panel
    * Used Adobe Creative Cloud Diagnostics, no issues found

I need to add, that the raw video recordings are playing well while previewing using Windows Movie Player.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

    Many thanks,
    Mariusz

    Hey Mariusz,

Agreed, sorry but that looks horrible.

Out of interest, how does it play when playing from the Sequence on PPro Program monitor?
I often find, and that is on a high spec PC, that the source monitor in Premiere Pro is hit and miss as to whether it plays nicely, and if I can see and use the controls in that window. Admittedly, I’ve found ways of working around that. But it is annoying when you are working with a client. Although, I do not have not yet had the jitter that you are seeing.

If you can, it might be worth you sharing following info on your hard-ware set-up:
    Size of Memory on PC?
And is it allocated to Adobe CC, and what is your “File Manager” Process window showing you?
As in, is there another piece of software “eating” away at CPU/GPU/Memory resources?
What is your storage – SSD?
    Source file / Codec info?

    Hope this helps.

    Hey Mads,

Thank you for your prompt answer.

    Referring to your questions:

*How does it play when playing from the Sequence on PPro Program monitor?

PLAYING THE SEQUENCE OR PROJECT WINDOW IS THE SAME, AS SEEN ON YT VIDEO LINK ABOVE

    *Size of Memory on PC?

I HAVE CARSAIR VEGWENANCE LPX 4X16 RAM 3200MHZ. USED AS DEFAULT IN BIOS AND XPM ENABLED, STILL NO CHANGES. COMPATIBILITY CHECKED

*Is there another piece of software “eating” away at CPU/GPU/Memory resources?

    NO, USING ONLY PP

*What is your storage – SSD

    SAMSUNG 1TB M2 SSD 980 PRO PCIe 4.0

    SAMSUNG 2TB M2 SSD 980 PRO

    *Source file / Codec info

    PLEASE SEE THE PRTSC ATTACHED

*“File Manager” Process window showing you?

DO YOU MEAN THE DEVICE MANAGER>? THE RAM IS NOT LISTED

    Thank you for your time.

    M.

Found the issue, problem solved! Thank you for your time Mads.

For your reference, I have changed the audio hardware setting from the input to none! I knwe it must be something relatively simple!

    All the best, M.
