    Hi

Wondered if this is possible with FCP 6 – my client would like to transcribe into text the audio from videos we shoot and from sound forge 8.0, which they have on their laptop or from a Sony UX80 or similar digital handheld that they plug into the computer.

Do you understand the post here? https://community.avid.com/forums/t/61992.aspx
If so do you think it will work if not using Avid but FCP 6?

    They want
    a) A nicely formatted transcript available in .pdf
    b) An unformatted behind-the-scenes text so that if someone searches a keyword (may have to be on their site to do this) they can actually find the track of the video or audio where they can hear about this.

New to me – any thoughts about a workflow in FCP 6?

    Thanks

    K

    Kent,

The answer to your question is : Download the Adobe trial version of “Audition” and try it out for yourself. I did, and in my opinion, it’s useless for what you’re hoping.

Did you not see the comment in the avid formun you cite about “punctuation”? There is NONE!

If you want a “Nicely formatted transcript in pdf” you’re going to have to do it yourself.

This has nothing to do with FCP or Avid. People have been pursuing this holy grail of “auto transcriptions” for quite some time and so far, that goal has yet to be reached.

    Mark
