    Hey russ,

So i just got a new avchd camera and I’m stoked, and I read this so i think i’ve got it figured out except for the batch transfer. So I have a bunch of clips on my camera and i used batch transfer to add them to my project, converting them to Prores 422 proxy (I’m on a macbook pro.) Now though, because it’s in proxy, the quality is really bad due to the way lower data rate. After I create my edit, how do I do a batch transfer to get my edit into prores 422 hq, in order to use the full quality of the original footage on my camera? Thanks in advance,

    Grant

Realizing that I’m 3 and a half years since you made this post, I just starting using AVCHD (Canon Vixia HF M50) and I have Final Cut 7, also on MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz (like yours above which I’m sure you have since replaced).

I’m somewhat terrified of what I’m getting myself into shooting in AVCHD format. I’m interviewing people for a podcast I’m launching but may want to cut the footage into a documentary down the line, so even tho this camera offers MPEG4 as an option (SO easy to edit) it seems I should shoot in AVCHD to leave my options open.

My question is, how long DOES the export conversion take? Right now I’m only testing file formats with 1 minute clips and even these are taking forever (output to Apple TV took about 20 minutes for 1 minute clip)
    🙁
Do you have any tips on how to speed up the export ? Initially everything would be exported for podcast and then one day perhaps for Blu Ray if I do the documentary.

Each episode of my podcast is going to be at least an hour, up to 90 mins and I want to do a weekly show so I can’t be spending my whole week exporting (!)
    🙂

thank you so much any tips.

    Terrified AVCHD user
    🙂
