New Version?
Posted by Kevin Mccarthy on April 2, 2015 at 3:47 amIt’s April, it’s time for the NAB and this is when Sony usually gives us a new version of Vegas Pro.
Any speculation or details anyone?

April 2, 2015 at 4:13 amThe last few years it’s been announced at IBC in the fall. Anything is speculation as those who do know can’t tell due to the NDA.

Yea, it’s usually been a fall announcement lately. As Mike said… no one who knows is talking’.

April 4, 2015 at 10:25 amNo excitement here looking for a new version…
And there will be no details unless Sony officially announces it,
anything else is just unnecessary speculation.Steve Rhoden (Cow Leader)

Well… Sony has already said that the big announcement at NAB 2015 is going to be Catalyst Suite (Browse, Prepare, & Edit). While they haven’t said that Catalyst Edit runs on Mac as well as Windows, (and believe me I’ve read the announcement several times) one can only hope that since Catalyst Browse and Catalyst Prepare run on Mac that Catalyst Edit will too. That would be a huge announcement for Sony that they are entering the Mac NLE market (although they describe it as “… a lean, focused video editing environment making the cutting process fast and fluent.“).
They also said: “… Sony will feature information and demonstrations of these powerful applications as well as its latest editions of SpectraLayers™ Pro 3, Vegas Pro™ 13 …” which implies that Vegas Pro 13.0 is going to NAB so a new version is not being announced. We’ll find out in a week but I’m pretty sure there is no new version of Vegas Pro in your immediate future based on this press release:

I could be wrong but it doesn’t look like it.

April 4, 2015 at 8:35 pmThat’s basically what i was implying, there will be no new version
of Vegas Pro at all. As for Catalyst, it doesn’t interest me much.
What would have had me spiraling in excitement, is if all that Catalyst
talk and features where geared towards Sony Vegas Pro 14, now THAT
would be the right direction for them to have taken.Steve Rhoden (Cow Leader)
