Given your remarks, you may be looking at a continuity problem.
Have a look over here to read more about that. It may help you.https://www.internetcampus.org/tvp052.htm

October 13, 2007 at 6:29 amHi Harm,
Thanks for posting the continuity links. I shall definitely read through them. As for my little knowledge , I always thought that continuity was do more with a single scene. As in the various shots in the scene need to look identical in terms of clothing ,lighting, artifacts/objects within the field and positions of the actors.
But when the scene changes from one to another for example an INT to EXT then maintaining the smooth transition is more to do with editing it right. It can also apply for the same scene with two different shots one taken from closeup other distant or per say different camera angles.
When we see the film it looks , as if, it has all been shot together contiguously in the same roll.
I have uploaded a video for an example please look at this link,
https://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-139852147417061275&hl=enHere there are two scenes one of the girl and the other of the man. When the scene moves from 1 to other the transition is smooth and one can hardly tell that they are two different cuts.
But when you look at my examples they look so jerky and evident as a cut. Whereas what you see in the film is what I want to achieve. Hope that helps in terms of the information provided.
Thanks a lot.

October 13, 2007 at 6:32 amHi Harm,
Also wanted to mention that, the example that I put across in my previous post was just to explain my requirement and only a reference.
I am sure there can be better/worse examples as well. But just wanted to convey what I was trying to achieve.

The example you showed has two important aspects about it. One is the composition of the two shots and the other is the flow of the audio. Both make it a natural cut. It is obvious there is a cut, but the content of the pictures and the flow of the audio make it ‘smooth’. That was the reason for my link to the continuity tutorial. If your earlier example there is a break in terms of the child coming at you slightly from the right hand and the next shot of the woman, looking from left to right, is the other direction. You could try to flip this last image horizontally to see if it has a more natural flow to it. If you mail me privately at millaard@millcon.nl I can show you some examples.
