So I just finished my first project in FCP.

I have an external hard drive which featured all of my footage from a P2 card. I imported it and I was able to edit without my external attached, so I’m guessing it converts video into a high quality quicktime file. So when I go to export the video, does it use the high quality quicktime file or does it go back to the original P2 files?

Also, Compressor is confusing. I guess that’s just because I’m not used to the interface. Anyways, I’m trying to find a good preset for uploading HD video onto Vimeo and Youtube. So far, everything I’ve output looks really blocky. Any tips?

Forgive me, I migrated over from Premiere and having a hard time adjusting.

It exports from what it is working with, which are the lossless quicktimes.

Any of the H.264 presets…Qt7 compatible.

I normally use 1280×720 H264, best quality, multi pass for uploading to Vimeo/YouTube – remember their server will add further compression during processing so you’re best to upload the best quality your connection and their upload limit can handle.
