  • New to CS5 — Playback stops after just 15 frames

    Hello Everybody,

I’m new to the forums. I did some rudimentary searching, and didn’t really find anything similar, so here goes…

I’ve installed CS5 on my MacPro (Nehalem) 8-core machine. I’ve got 6gigs of RAM, and a nVidia GTX285.

When I try to play ANYTHING in the source side or from the timeline in PP, it only plays for 15 frames and quits, then the playback head jumps back to where it started from. Please tell me I have the software in some kind of ‘mode’ or something? I’m ready to pull my hair out here.

I’ve tried video only, and audio only. Same thing.

I’ve also tried turning the MPE on and off. Same thing.

    Help!

    Chris

PS: I also have Avid MC and FCS installed on the same machine. Do you suppose there’s a conflict someplace?

    Hi Chris,

Make sure the “loop” button is not selected under the monitor window, happened to me once and took me a while to figure out!

just to add to Jeff’s advice… The loop button would play between a designated in point and out point in the sequence…do you have those set?

Thanks for the advice, folks. My problem was solved by Wil Renczes on the Adobe forum. The problem is an audio driver configuration problem which apparently Adobe is aware of. The fix can be found here:

    https://kb2.adobe.com/cps/842/cpsid_84287.html

Just an FYI, in case it pops up again.

I’m having the same problem and I cannot get this fixed with the 2 suggestion. I could not find the plist file.

    Are there any other suggestions?

    Hello !
Did you solve your problem with playback in the mean time ? Im having the same issue. I followed help suggested by adobe and it didnt work either. (i am missing that system file in mentioned folder). In addition premiere highlights this error event in the right bottom corner by this little red circle and white cross, when i hit it little windows opens with a message “do close”.
Thank you for getting back to me.

I´m working with several imacs. We deleted the plist file and premieres were working just fine for a while. But now in some computers that problem came back, only that playback goes on sometimes 15 frames sometimes 40…. Any clue what file I should delete now :-D!
