new system spec’s
I have an old “cheese grater” mac running version 7. It is time to start over and run the most current version of Avid. Can I get some suggestions for new system specs? Long format & VFX heavy. So many options! What has worked the best for people?

Well, the company I am at, we cut ANCIENT ALIENS…and run almost the most current Avid MC (2018.3). Long form, HEAVY Sapphire use (we are VFX heavy, and do a lot internally with Sapphire). We are almost all on 2012 Cheese Grater MacPros. But we also cut offline…and yeah, things are SLOW…mainly due to the ISIS and NEXUS.
If you want to use Apple products, get a top of the line iMac…or even a lower end iMac Pro…both will be good. if you want a PC, look at the HP z6.
