There is a new system comprised of Production Studio Premium Educational Edition. This is running on a brand new computer

    – Genuine Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
    – AMD Athlon(TM) 64 X2 5000+ dual-core – 2.6GHz
    – 4GB DDR2-667MHz dual channel SDRAM (4×1024)
    – 500GB (2×250) 7200 rpm SATA Hard Drive
    – 400 GB 7200 rpm HP Personal Media Drive
    – LightScribe 16X DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive
    – 9-in-1 memory card reader, 2 USB, 1 1394, audio
    – HP stereo speakers with subwoofer
    – 802.11 b/g Wireless LAN PCI Card
    – Single NTSC TV tuner with PVR, FM tuner, remote
    – 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS, TV-Out and 2 DVI
    – Integrated 7.1 channel sound w/front audio ports
    – HP Wireless Keyboard, Wireless Optical Mouse

This is being used for high school production. Or shall I say trying to be used. It is giving errors that it is low on memory. The computer has everything in the start menu disabled and does not go on the net. The Adobe is the only software loaded on this computer. Also the virtual memory has been moved up. Currently all media is on the 500 GB split drive.

The message comes up after something really light duty, like creating the first title of the day or adjusting some audio. There has been an occasion when auto save failed to work and at least twice that it closed without warning losing all work. I hoped someone may have a suggestion to get this running better. Any help, experience or suggestions would be great.

    Thank You for your input!

    Hi!

I had a similar post last week, and no one responded. I took a guess that I was importing too many files from too many different places into the project. Once I broke up my project, and limited the files going in to the project, I had no problems.

    Hope this helps!

    A few things:
    [GinsuAce] “- 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS, TV-Out and 2 DVI”

Have you updated the video drivers?

[GinsuAce] “- Single NTSC TV tuner with PVR, FM tuner, remote”

What brand is the NTSC TV Tuner? A lot of TV tuners install codecs, that don’t play very well with Premiere Pro.

Is your PC on a CAN (Campus Area Network)? (if yes, try disconnecting) Does it have Novell or other networking software installed? Administrators can restrict many aspects of a PC with this stuff.
    Anti Virus running?

Is your PC on a CAN (Campus Area Network)? (if yes, try disconnecting) No

Does it have Novell or other networking software installed? Administrators can restrict many aspects of a PC with this stuff. No

Anti Virus running? No, this system is strictly off network and nothing is downloaded on it.

Thank you for the train of thought. Yesterday did better. I got some new drivers on the video card. Today will be a good day. Smooooooooth Sailing!

    Thank You for your input!

    Mr. Sareen

Thank you for the help, I uploaded new drivers for the vid card and so far so good. The TV tuner function will never be used. This is an HP, so it would be their standard tuner. If I have any more issues then I will look to removing this function. Ideally I hope it will just behave in the background.

    I appreciate your time
    Steve

Just so you know, My wifes name is Sandra and I am showing her the basics of post production. Initially I thought that she was playing a trick on me posting in this forum. Anyway I did streamline the project as well as upload new video drivers and it is working out good so far. I needed to clean out some bins anyhow so thank you for the motivation to do it.
    Thanks Again,
    Steve
